Shortage of Sign Language Interpreters

If you thought there weren’t enough Spanish and Sign Language interpreters in the Los Angeles, Long Beach, Anaheim, Riverside, Irvine and Southern California areas, just look at southwestern Louisiana where there are only three sign language interpreters serving around 800 Deaf and hard of hearing clients.

This affects Deaf and hard of hearing patient’s ability to communicate for everything from medical appointments, educational events, conferences, legal and court issues…etc.

Even though we service the Southern California area (Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino, Orange County), we currently offer Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) which can be beneficial when there are such shortages. This may not be ideal for the Deaf, who prefer to have an on-site interpreter, but it is often better than nothing in such cases where there are extreme shortages, and an on-site interpreter is nearly impossible to find.

Give us a call or send us an email if you need a Spanish or Sign Language interpreter on-site or via video and we’d be glad to help out.
